Although beaten, Andy Townend has gained plenty of experience over 20 fights and a 4 year long career so far. He now moves on to see just how far he can go as he approaches the later stage of his career. The longest KO streak that Townend has ever had is 5 throughout his 20 fights and his longest winning streak is 9 wins. This started on November 2011 and came to an end on March 2016.
Ready to showcase his talent in the pro ranks, Townend defeated Robin Deakin over 4 rounds in his debut to secure his first win (PTS) against a durable Deakin. Townend continued his pro journey by fighting 10 fights following their debut. Fights against boxers such as Ben Wager, Ross Payne and Jake Smith followed including once in 2011, 4 times in 2012 and 5 times through 2013 and 2014.
The first defeat of Townend's career came against Dougie Curran on February 15th, 2013. This took his career record to 5-1-0. Townend's technical boxing ability was put to the test as he got outpointed in the 6 round fight against the better man. Curran gave Townend his first professional loss of his 6 fight career to date.
On May 10th, 2014, Townend went into action again and beat Sean Dodd taking the winning record to 8 wins. Dodd was stopped in the 7th round via TKO crowning Townend as the first person to stop this opponent. Townend's wins continued and went from 8 wins to 9 after he then defeated Lee Connelly.
Keeping his losses at 3, Townend fought on November 29th, 2014 beating Peter Cope via TKO. This took his record to 10-3-0 showing quite the successful career to date. Townend was the first person to stop Peter Cope and he did it in the 4th round via TKO. Townend's win streak of 10 rose to 15 following 5 great wins, becoming the 3rd person to stop Femi Fehintola, first to stop John Green and 2nd person to stop Lee Glover (Round 7 KO).
Craig Poxton was Townend's next fight on March 26th, 2016 and also the next win in his career via TKO. This took his record to 16-3-0 showing a mainly successful career to date. Becoming the first person to stop Craig Poxton, Townend beat Poxton via TKO in the 1st round of a 10 round fight.
Taking another knock in his career, Townend fought Martin joseph Ward on September 10th, 2016 and was defeated by Ward. This bout proved to be the toughest of Townend's 20 career fights to date. Ward was too skilful and took 8 rounds to dispose of Townend. This was Townend's first stoppage defeat as he looks to move on and rebuild going forwards.
