Born October 6th 1982, orthodox fighter Moruti Mthalane started his career in December 2000 at the age of 18 and has now been pro for 16 years, fighting a total of 34 times. He started his best winning streak on December 2000 however, this came to an end on June 2004. In this period he won a total of 14 fights.
In December 2000 Mthalane faced Wiseman Mnguni in his debut bout over 4 rounds, but only 3 were needed as Mthalane became the quickest person ever to stop Mnguni via a 3 round KO victory. Mthalane's fight against Nkqubela Gwazela was Mthalane's first stoppage defeat of his career. This came via TKO in the 10th round of a 12 round fight. Mthalane's win streak of 14 rose to 23 following 9 great wins, becoming the first to stop Xola Sifama, 3rd person to stop Zamumzi Xola (Round 3 TKO) and 3rd person to stop Joel Kunene.
Taking a knock to his career, Mthalane fought and was defeated by Nonito Donaire on November 1st, 2008 taking his record to 23-2-0. Mthalane fought Nonito Donaire and was defeated via TKO in the 12 round bout. This was Mthalane's 2nd stoppage defeat in his career which came in the 6th round. Mthalane's winning streak went from 23 wins to 25 after he then defeated boxers including Lehlohonolo Ramagole and Julio cesar Miranda.
Mthalane went into his next career fight with a record of 25-2-0 and took this to 26 wins with a win against Zolani Tete on September 1st, 2010. Mthalane was the first person to stop Zolani Tete and he did it in the 5th round via TKO.
Mthalane kept his losses at 2 by beating John riel Casimero on March 26th, 2011. Casimero was stopped in the 5th round via TKO crowning Mthalane as the first person to stop this opponent. Fights against Jether Oliva, Andrea Sarritzu and Ricardo Nunez followed where he won all 3 fights taking his winning streak to 30 wins.
On October 26th, 2014, Mthalane went into action again and beat Odilon Zaleta taking the winning record to 31 wins. Mthalane was the 6th person to beat Odilon Zaleta where he showed his talent as a technical boxer, beating him over 12 rounds in his 33rd professional fight.
In Mthalane's most recent fight, Genesis Libranza was handed a beating by Mthalane on April 28th, 2017 to ensure his win record increased further again to 32 wins. It didn't take long for Mthalane to work Libranza out in his most recent fight. With a stoppage in the 4th round, Moruti Mthalane became the first fighter to stop Libranza via KO and moves on to bigger things.
