Shane Mosley was the next fight for Avanesyan on May 28th, 2016 and also his next career win. Avanesyan's UD win against Shane Mosley came via judges decision of a 12 round fight. Avanesyan became the 10th person to defeat Mosley and secured a great win.

This latest challenge for Avanesyan proved to be too much for him, taking a UD loss to the better technical fighter over the 12 rounds and leaving Avanesyan wondering which direction his career will head next.
