Taking a knock to his career, Kennedy fought and was defeated by Guillermo Rigondeaux on June 9th, 2012 taking his record to 17-2-2. Guillermo Rigondeaux became the first person to stop Kennedy. The win came via TKO in the 5th round of a 12 round bout.
