Born February 17th 1987, orthodox fighter Nathan Cleverly started his career in July 2005 at the age of 18 and has now been pro for 12 years, fighting a total of 34 times. He started his best winning streak on July 2005 however, this came to an end on April 2013. In this period he won a total of 26 fights.
Ready to showcase his talent in the pro ranks, Cleverly defeated Ernie Smith over 4 rounds in his debut to secure his first win (PTS) against a durable Smith. Cleverly continued on his journey to success by fighting 3 times in 2005, 5 times in 2006 and 9 times through 2007, 2008 and 2009 beating fighters such as Tony Oakey, Danny Mcintosh and Douglas Otieno okola in his next 17 fights.
On September 18th, 2010 Cleverly fought and beat Karo Murat (22-0-0) to continue his unbeaten streak. Murat was a worthy challenger but Cleverly was too much and became the first person to stop Murat via TKO during round 10. Cleverly then went on to win a further 4 fights taking his record to 24 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws.
Next was Shawn Hawk on November 10th, 2012 where Cleverly took the win continuing his unbeaten streak. Becoming the first person to stop Shawn Hawk, Cleverly beat Hawk via TKO in the 8th round of a 12 round fight. Another win followed for Cleverly taking his win tally to 26 wins.
Cleverly went into his next fight against Sergey Kovalev on August 17th, 2013 with a career record of 26 wins. Cleverly's fight against Sergey Kovalev was Cleverly's first stoppage defeat and also, the first defeat of his career. This came via TKO in the 4th round of a 12 round fight.
Pushing his career further, Cleverly fought Juergen Braehmer on October 1st, 2016 adding to his winning record. Braehmer was stopped in the 7th round via RTD crowning Cleverly as the first person to stop this opponent.
On August 26th, 2017, Cleverly took on and was defeated by Badou Jack meaning his career tally went to 30-4-0 Out for his 34th career fight, Cleverly was once again outmatched where he suffered a 5th round TKO loss in only his 2nd stoppage defeat to date. Another blow for the talented Cleverly.
