Starting his career in July 1994 at the age of 21, orthodox boxer Michael Grant has now been pro for 20 years and has built up a career of 48-6-0. Grant now moves into the final stages of his career. Starting as he means to go on, Grant got off to an explosive start in his debut, defeating Ernest English in 1 rounds and becoming the only person to have stopped English to date. Grant continued on his journey to success by fighting 10 times in 1994, 4 times in 1995 and 13 times through 1996, 1997 and 1998 beating fighters such as Jorge luis Gonzalez, Ray Anis and Alfred Cole in his next 27 fights.
Grant then went on to fight and beat Alfred Cole on June 20th, 1997 maintaining his unbeaten record. Cole was a worthy challenger but Grant was too much and became the first person to stop Cole via RTD during round 10. 2 wins followed taking Grant's winning streak to 27 wins.
On May 30th, 1998 Grant fought and beat Obed Sullivan (29-2-1) to continue his unbeaten streak. Grant was the first person to stop Obed Sullivan and he did it in the 9th round via TKO.
Ahmed Abdin was beaten next on January 30th, 1999 meaning Grant could maintain his unbeaten streak. Becoming the first person to stop Ahmed Abdin, Grant beat Abdin via RTD in the 10th round of a 12 round fight. 2 wins followed taking Grant's winning streak to 31 wins.
Grant went into his next fight against Lennox Lewis on April 29th, 2000 with a career record of 31 wins. Grant was beaten and stopped by Lennox Lewis in the 2nd round. The win came via KO in the 2nd round. Grant then went on to win a further 20 fights taking his record to 48 wins, 4 losses and 0 draw.
Carlos Takam was next in line for Grant where unfortunately, he was defeated on May 24th, 2013 taking his record to 48-5-0. Takam upset Grant in a 12 round fight, stopping him in the 8th round and becoming only the 4th person to stop Grant.
On October 24th, 2014, Grant took on and was defeated by Manuel Charr meaning his career tally went to 48-6-0 A great performance by opponent Charr added a 5th stoppage defeat to Grant's career. Grant was outmatched and the fight was brought to a halt in round 5 via RTD.
