The first defeat of Theran's career came against Arif Magomedov on April 25th, 2014. Theran was beaten and stopped by Arif Magomedov in the 3rd round. The win came via RTD in the 3rd round.
Alex Theran went into his fight with Jhonatan Ricar on October 11th, 2014 with 16 wins and he added another win to his record taking it to 17 wins by beating Ricar. Ending via RTD, Theran became the 7th fighter to stop Ricar. The defeat came in the 6th round of a 10 round fight.
