After a debut fight on February 2004, Mkwanda Matumla (age 37) has now built a record of 8 wins, 3 losses, 1 draws over a 12 fight career so far. The longest KO streak that Matumla has ever had is 2 throughout his 12 fights and his longest winning streak is 4 wins. This started on February 2004 and came to an end on June 2006.
It didn't take Matumla long to get accustomed to the pro style of fighting. Becoming the first person to go the distance with Athumani Ayoub in a successful pro debut. Following his debut, Matumla had an impressive start to his career as he went on to fight 6 fights including 6 times in 2004 against fighters such as Athumani Ayoub, Musa Hassan and Mathias Emmanuel.
On December 9th, 2006, Matumla took on and was defeated by Vyacheslav Yakovenko meaning his career tally went to 6-1-1. Yakovenko was a push too far for Matumla and after a tough fight Yakovenko became the first person to beat and stop Matumla in round 1. Matumla's wins continued and went from 6 wins to 7 after he then defeated Deo Njiku.
Matumla's next defeat of his career came against Rene Mahling on October 27th, 2007 taking his career record to 7-2-1. Matumla fought Rene Mahling and was defeated via TKO in the 10 round bout. This was Matumla's 2nd stoppage defeat in his career which came in the 4th round.
Pushing his career further, Matumla fought Maliki Kinyogoli on March 1st, 2008 adding to his winning record. The 10 round fight ended in the 9th round via KO crowning Matumla as only the 2nd to stop Kinyogoli.
Taking another knock in his career, Matumla fought Zapir Rasulov on May 17th, 2008 and was defeated by Rasulov. Out for his 12th career fight, Matumla was once again outmatched where he suffered a 1st round KO loss in only his 3rd stoppage defeat to date. Another blow for the talented Matumla.
