Taking a knock to his career, Herrera fought and was defeated by Monty Meza clay on August 8th, 2014 taking his record to 32-7-0. Meza clay upset Herrera in a 10 round fight, stopping him in the 10th round and becoming only the 2nd person to stop Herrera.
Herrera kept his losses at 7 by beating Abel Ramirez on February 13th, 2015. In 2015 Herrera fought his next opponent Abel Ramirez ending in a win for Herrera. In a successful fight, Herrera was the first person to go the distance with Ramirez.
The next defeat of Herrera's career came against Alejandro Luna on January 23rd, 2016. This took his career record to 33-8-0. Once again Herrera was in a tough fight, one that proved to be a step too far in Herrera's latest fight. Opponent Luna fought well and was rewarded with a win, and crowned only the 3rd man to stop Herrera in the process. The fight ended in round 8 via RTD.
