On May 10th, 2009, Evans took on and was defeated by Dave Ryan in his first career defeat meaning his career tally went to 8-1-0. Dave Ryan became the first person to stop and also the first to defeat Evans. The win came via TKO in the 2nd round of a 10 round bout.
Taking another knock in his career, Jamie Mclevy was next in line for Evans with Mclevy coming out victorious. Evans career was at 8-2-0 following the fight. Mclevy upset Evans, stopping him in the 1st round and becoming only the 2nd person to stop Evans.
