On March 22nd, 2014, Abreu took on and was defeated by Humberto Soto meaning his career tally went to 16-1-1. Abreu's first defeat came over the full distance against Humberto Soto on March 22nd, 2014. Taking a knock to his career, Abreu fought and was defeated by Jamal James on September 18th, 2015 taking his record to 18-2-1. There was nothing more Abreu could have done on the night facing James. James put on a great performance to take the win over the 10 rounds. Taking his record to 19-2-1. Abreu then went on to win his next fight against Euri Gonzalez.
Abreu's next defeat of his career came against Alex Martin on June 18th, 2016. Abreu career took a slight knock when fighting Alex Martin in 2016 over 8 rounds. Abreu was the 3rd person to go the distance with Alex Martin where Abreu added a loss to his career record.
