A successful pro debut for Hisao, Kobayashi showed his superior boxing talent against Kiyoshi Yamada, becoming the first person to go the full distance with him. Kobayashi's rise in boxing continued with 26 fights against fighters such as Yoshihiro Sasazaki, Noboru Tanaka and Kiyoaki Nakanishi. He had a mixed start to his career but mostly successful so far.

Kobayashi's next defeat of his career came against Genji Sakai on February 15th, 1960 taking his career record to 34-8-5. Kobayashi fought Genji Sakai and was defeated via KO in the 10 round bout. This was Kobayashi's 2nd stoppage defeat in his career which came in the 2nd round. 3 wins followed for Kobayashi including being the 16th person to defeat Leo Espinosa, 7th person to beat Yuji Masuko and 13th person to beat Kozo Nagata.
Kobayashi kept his losses at 8 by beating Flashy Panio on November 28th, 1960. The win against Panio came in the 6th round of a 10 round fight via TKO. Kobayashi was the 2nd person to stop Panio.
On February 1st, 1961, Kobayashi took on and was defeated by Army Wonder boy meaning his career tally went to 38-9-5 This proved to be one fight too many for Kobayashi's career, Wonder boy was the victor becoming only the 3rd person to stop Kobayashi. TKO in the 6th. Kobayashi decided to call it a day after this fight.
