Getting rid of his debut fight nerves early, Fuentes took on Rafael Saavedra in August 2006 and claimed a stoppage victory (round 2, KO). Fuentes was the first person to have ever stopped Saavedra. Fuentes continued his mostly successful career with numerous fights following his debut against boxers including Over Orozco, Marcelino Morales and Omar Mejia. Fights included fighting 3 times in 2006 and 3 times in 2008.
Unfortunately, the first defeat of Fuentes's career came against Eugenio Monteiro on March 10th, 2007 in Fuentes's 4th professional fight. Coming into the fight with high confidence Fuentes fought his next fight against Eugenio Monteiro on March 10th, 2007. Unfortunately, Fuentes was outclassed and lost the decision on the judges scorecards taking his record to 3-1-0. Fuentes then went on to win a further 10 fights taking his record to 12 wins, 2 losses and 0 draw.
Fuentes's career took a knock with a loss against Jorge daniel Miranda on November 12th, 2010 taking his record to 12-3-0. Fuentes failed to reach the later rounds of this tough 10 round fight, Miranda was too much and stopped Fuentes early to become the only person to stop Fuentes. The fight ended in round 3 via KO. Fights against Eduardo Flores, Carlos Valdez, Oscar Leon and 1 other followed where he won all 4 fights taking his winning streak to 16 wins.
Jorge Paez jr was next in line for Fuentes where unfortunately, he was defeated on January 26th, 2013 taking his record to 16-4-0. Fuentes was stopped by Jorge Paez jr in the 9th round of a 10 round fight via TKO. It was Fuentes's 2nd stoppage defeat in his career.
On April 20th, 2013, Fuentes took on and was defeated by Alberto Mosquera meaning his career tally went to 16-5-0. A valiant but fruitless effort for Fuentes. Fuentes fell just short and was defeated by Mosquera over the full 8 round distance.
Taking another knock in his career, Fuentes fought Erick Bone on July 5th, 2013 and was defeated by Bone. Fuentes struggled from the off with Bone, suffering his 3rd stoppage defeat out of 22 career fights. The latest loss on Fuentes's journey came via KO in round 1.
