Unfortunately, the first defeat of Watanabe's career came against Saengachit Kiatkamthorngym on August 11th, 2008 in Watanabe's 7th professional fight. On August 11th, 2008, Watanabe took on and was defeated over the distance by Saengachit Kiatkamthorngym in his first career defeat. Watanabe lost via UD in a valiant effort. 18 wins followed where Watanabe went on to fight Non Sithsaithong, Ryuji Miyazaki and Yakobus Heluka amongst others, prolonging his win streak.
Watanabe went into his next fight against Jaesung Lee on March 16th, 2014 with a career record of 20-5-1. There was nothing more Watanabe could have done on the night facing Lee. Lee put on a great performance to take the win over the 10 rounds.
Takuya Watanabe went into his fight with Yodpichai Sithsaithong on July 19th, 2014 with 20 wins and he added another win to his record taking it to 21 wins by beating Sithsaithong. Watanabe beat Yodpichai Sithsaithong in the 7th round of a 12 round fight via KO. Watanabe was the 7th fighter to stop Sithsaithong.
