Although beaten, Masayuki Wakimoto has gained plenty of experience over 27 fights and a 6 year long career so far. He now moves on to see just how far he can go as he approaches the later stage of his career. He started his best winning streak on September 2006 however, this came to an end on November 2010. In this period he won a total of 8 fights.
Starting as he means to go on, Wakimoto got off to an explosive start in his debut, defeating Yukio Nakata in 1 rounds and becoming the only person to have stopped Nakata to date. Wakimoto's rise in boxing continued with 14 fights against fighters such as Yusuke Morishima, Yusuke Morishima and Akimasa Murakoshi. He had a mixed start to his career but mostly successful so far.
Wakimoto then went on to fight and beat Akimasa Murakoshi on May 20th, 2007 maintaining his unbeaten record. In 2007 Wakimoto fought his next opponent Akimasa Murakoshi and defeated him via UD. Wakimoto was the 2nd person to go the distance with Murakoshi.
Taking the first knock of his career, Wakimoto fought Hikaru Murazawa on July 8th, 2007 and was defeated by Murazawa. Wakimoto's first defeat came over the full distance against Hikaru Murazawa on July 8th, 2007. The fight went to the judges in a UD loss for Wakimoto. Wakimoto fought boxers including Hiroki Tani and Yodchanchai Sithsoei and he went on to win another 2 fights.
Wakimoto lost to Daisaku Maki in his next fight. Taking place on May 11th, 2008, Wakimoto's career record after this fight stood at 7-2-0. Maki was a fight too far for Wakimoto and after a rough fight Maki became the first person to stop Wakimoto in round 2. 8 wins followed where Wakimoto went on to be the 2nd person to stop Kazuki Hashimoto (Round 2 TKO), 3rd person to stop Hiroki Tani (Round 1 TKO) and 6th person to defeat Kenji Kumagai.
On December 29th, 2010, Wakimoto took on and was defeated by Suriya Tatakhun meaning his career tally went to 15-3-0. Wakimoto was beaten by Suriya Tatakhun in the 5th round. Wakimoto had only ever been stopped 2 times previously in his career. Wakimoto then went on to win a further 7 fights taking his record to 20 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw.
Wakimoto went into his next fight against Mark gil Melligen on April 7th, 2013 with a career record of 20-5-1. Wakimoto was beaten by Mark gil Melligen in the 2nd round. Wakimoto had only ever been stopped 3 times previously in his career.
Wakimoto's next defeat of his career came against Kohei Maruoka on June 30th, 2013. Wakimoto struggled from the off with Maruoka, suffering his 4th stoppage defeat out of 27 career fights. The latest loss on Wakimoto's journey came via TKO in round 4.
